Technium is an iPhone, iPad and Mac app for managing Technitium DNS Server instances that you own.
It is developed independently by Andrew Quenehen (“we”) and is not affiliated with Technitium.
Summary
We don't collect any of your data. We run no servers that receive information from the app. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code (SDKs) in the app. The app talks directly to your DNS server. What it shows (statistics, queries, lists) comes from your server and is not sent anywhere else. Your password is never stored.
Information stored on your device
To work, the app stores locally on your device: each server's configuration — the name you gave it, address, port, user name, server and cluster names, cluster nodes, chosen icon and, for HTTPS connections with a self-signed certificate, the SHA‑256 fingerprint you confirmed.
An access token (API token) created on your server during setup, kept in iCloud Keychain and protected by the system. Your password and two-factor code are used once to create that token and are then discarded.
A recent copy of your server's data (statistics, blocking status, allowed and blocked domain lists) for offline use, widgets, Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight search, in a container shared only between the app and its widgets.
iCloud
If iCloud is on, your server list (without passwords or tokens) syncs between your devices through your private iCloud database, and the token syncs through iCloud Keychain. This data lives in your Apple Account; we have no access to it. You can turn iCloud off for Technium in Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
Network connections
The app connects only to your Technitium servers, at the address you entered, to read statistics, query logs and settings and to make the changes you ask for (pausing blocking, allowing or blocking domains, updating lists). Query logs may contain domains visited and device addresses on your network: they are shown in the app and never leave the connection between the app and your server.
GitHub, only when you open Technitium's release history in the app. GitHub receives that request (like any website you visit) and follows its own privacy policy.
Apple services used by the system: App Store (purchases), iCloud, Siri and Shortcuts, under the Apple Privacy Policy.
Apple Intelligence
Network summaries and domain explanations use Apple's language model on your device. The data is not sent to us or to anyone else. These features only appear on supported devices with Apple Intelligence turned on.
Purchases
Technium Pro and tips are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details; Apple only sends us aggregated sales reports.
Data provided by Apple
If you allow sharing with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics (App Analytics). They don't identify you.
Other people on your network
As the administrator of your DNS server, you can see queries made by other devices on your network in the app. Technium only displays what your server already logs; how those logs are used, and informing the people on your network, is the responsibility of whoever runs the server.
Deleting your data
Removing a server in the app deletes its configuration and local copy and revokes the token on your server (when reachable). You can also end the “Technium” session in Technitium's web console.
Deleting the app removes local data. To delete the iCloud copy, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage.
Children
Technium doesn't collect data from anyone, including children.
Your rights (GDPR and Brazil's LGPD)
Because we don't collect or store your personal data, we hold no data of yours to access, correct or delete. If you have any question, contact us below.
